i wanna see a hannibal-level psychosexual obsession between two normal people. like some freak who works at a deli counter and the city bus driver who buys sandwiches with anchovies on purpose

the narrative of a woman heroically and tragically dying during birth while the child lives needs to disappear from the collective conscious. I’m serious the way people feel and talk and see it represented is i n s a n e. that’s a whole ass person dying and a blank one showing up and it’s supposed to be an even trade, and the way it’s shown as a noble sacrifice on her part as if her death was necessary for a child to be born in the first place. evil evil eviiilll, it’s something that’s super ideologically extreme to normalize yet society at large does, truly a sign of living in unnatural times. I love children’s rights but like modern society has clearly not properly dealt with the medical advancements that have allowed us to have a decent survival rate of babies. babies used to die left and right from things we couldn’t control or understand, not to even mention the rate of spontaneous abortions. babies only weren’t considered completely replaceable bc of the strain they put a woman’s body thru, it wasn’t easy to try and have many just like that. and now that that’s not the case anymore babies and pregnancies are considered super precious since basically all of them are viable human beings and suddenly the mother doesn’t matter anymore. now she’s the disposable one, rather than “if we can’t make this pregnancy into a child let’s try again” it’s “if we can’t make this woman make a child let’s get another one”. does this make sense like we have not properly coped with declining infant mortality so now the disposability was transferred from the baby to the mother rather than disappearing entirely
